I try to mess with my mom but it always backfires
  • Pri: Ma, my friend wants to go to a strip club for her birthday, can I go?
  • Mom: Tell her 'no, not unless my mom goes first, ok'?
  • Pri: ... Wait, what?
  • Mom: I want to go, I never been there, and then you can go later if I like it. New experience with almost naked people.
  • Pri: ... What?
  • Mom: I want to experience life you know, maybe I will find it at strip club.
  • Pri: ...*feels weird*

omg I just had to explain to my immigrant mom that Carly Rae Jepson doesn’t literally mean to call her “Maybe”, as in she wants to go by the name Maybe, but that instead she wants the boy to perhaps call her later.

If these walls could talk → mnhs.org

hmoobmeka:

At the Minnesota History Center, there is an exhibit called Open House: If These Walls Could Talk. It follows the history of one St. Paul house across 50 families and 118 years. It includes the first families to own the home who were German, Italian, African American and Hmong. The exhibit has various interactive components including a bed you sit on that breaks, dinner plates with screens, and more. It is definitely worth checking out!

A truly heartbreaking story, only to be criticized by rude comments → silive.com

sincerelyqueer:

My school collaborated with the local paper to feature the lives of immigrants who live in Port Richmond, where our school has a community service partnership.

One article, written by a friend of mine, is about the life of a gay immigrant, who has dealt with many hardships due to his sexual orientation and immigrant status. The comments that people have posted in response to the article have been terrible. I posted one myself (user ABrown) and I myself received negative comments in return. I am not upset by the comments, just by the way society acts sometimes. Opinions?
