(After)Life of a Ghost: Essay/Final project →
megantheghost:
Trying to get a headstart on research on my final paper for my Studies in Asian American Culture class. Think I have a few ideas.
I kind of want to do Immigrants vs the “American Way” (read as: the “typically conservative/republican way”). Going to try and relate the experience of Asian/Asian American people to modern Asian/Middle Eastern immigrants and the history of African...

Oh and I went to the doctors today and I was told...
Doctor- Sabrina, is there anything you greatly miss, or feel that you are anxious about?
Me: I miss many things.
Doctor: Name them.
Me: I miss my country. I miss my home. I miss my family. I miss Morocco. I miss being happy. I used to be able to walk to the mosque with my hijab on and not be called a terrorist, sand ni****, cameljockey. Now, in my neighborhood, thats all I hear being whispered behind my back.
Doctor: You're Muslim and Moroccan!?
Me: Yes, how could you not know? I talk about it all the time. Why, does that bother you?
Doctor: -she literally started crying-
Me: Um...are you okay?
Doctor: I know how you feel habiba (I was shocked because I had no idea she was even Arab...let alone Moroccan) You feel like you don't belong here at all and you want to be home. No one knows what its like and everyone judges you for stupid reasons.
Me: -speechless-

To be born and be raised as a foreigner in Saudi Arabia is arduous.
The fact that the last time I touched the earth of my home country was in 1989 is cruel.
In Saudi Arabia if you are a foreigner you don’t have the chance to join public schools. Public schools are only for citizen, so all…

goandgetyours asked: Hi :) I was wondering if you could help me out with something. For a class project, I have to select a book that I would make my future high school students read. It has to be written from a cultural or ethnic minority group and or contain characters from or about the group. Since you always feature great stories on your blog, I was wondering if you could give me a couple of titles to look over. ...
